While I think you’re crazy if you’ve still got gifts to buy just two days before Christmas, sometimes life gets in the way, and you gotta do, whatcha gotta do.
Braving the malls days before Christmas can be a nightmare, so I’ve rounded up a few gifts that are mall-less to help keep you sane as you do your last minute gift shopping.
Check out a local Christmas Market
Filled with vendors with cool products, there are tons of markets that you can grab something cute from! Toronto has too many to list, but you can head to the Toronto Christmas Market in the Distillery District (Thursday is your last chance!), or the Holiday Fair in the Square at Nathan Phillips Square by City Hall (ends tomorrow).
Great gifts I’ve seen this year are Cement Planters, Ornaments or anything Local-themed (ie. My Home is Toronto).
Work with an Independent Consultant
Chances are, you know a friend who sells product as an independent consultant either to bring in some extra money, or as their full-time gig. The products from these companies are often top notch, and you’re helping a friend/small business owner make some money to help them this Christmas!
Mary Kay is one of those Direct Sales organizations that help their consultants achieve success on their own terms, and sell pretty great products at the same time. While the amount of direct sales companies continues to grow, Mary Kay has been around for over 50 years, and was started with a small investment and a dream to assist women in business.
Anyways, my point here is that if you would with an Independent Consultant from a company like Mary Kay, they likely have some great product on hand, meaning you can avoid the malls, and support a neighbour at the same time.
Check out a local buy/trade on Facebook
In Toronto, Bunz has taken Facebook by storm with their focus on trading items for what you need. A woman even was able to forgo purchasing any Christmas gifts, and instead she trading everything she needed this Christmas with items she no longer needed.
What I love about Bunz is that I can connect with other creatives, and we can trade our products for gifts!
If you don’t have a Bunz in your town, hit up your local buy/sell group on Facebook. Someone might be willing to trade items with you, or you might be able to find a last minute gift from a neighbour across the street.
What are some of your last minute gift ideas?
