Easy DIY Last Minute Christmas Gift – Glass Etching

For me, one of the best gifts is one that is homemade with love and care. Obviously not everyone is a Pinterest Master, but I’ve come up with an easy DIY gift that you can make in minutes and your friends & family will love!

I started glass etching a few years ago on pint glasses for my family. Using my Silhouette SD, I was able to design sports-themed glasses for my dad and brothers.

Glass Etching Secrets provided me with Etching Cream & an super cute snowflake stencil to show you how easy it is to create this one of a kind gift for a loved one this holiday. If you have some etching cream on hand, this is a gift you can make last minute and look like a rockstar.

Step 1) Clean glass
Step 2) Peel stencil and place on glass
Step 3) Flatten stencil, if there are bumps, use a credit card to push out air

Step 4) Using a paintbrush, coat the glass visible beneath the stencil
Step 5) Peel stencil away, if the etching cream is brown/black like mine, it’s ok! It’s usually white, but if air gets in, it can darken. After letting the cream set for 30 minutes, white the black/brown away with a wet paper towel.
Step 6) Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Turn off the oven, but leave the glass in the oven until the glass gets cool again, or at least 30 minutes.

That’s really cool. I’ve never tried etching anything, but it doesn’t look too hard.
